Prior to Unicorn, Marco worked for Arca Sgr (Italy) and Generali Asset Management. He also served as portfolio manager in fixed income, currency and credit markets.

Marco is founding member and Researcher at ASSAIF, an Italian financial engineering think tank at the forefront of designing Shariah-compliant financial instruments.

Marco graduated from the Università Cattolica in Milan where he has been assistant professor in Microeconomics and International Monetary Economy. He also holds the Islamic Finance Qualification and is the author of "Economia e Finanza Islamica", the reference book for Islamic Finance in Italy.

Prior to joining ELAF Bank, Helmi was the Head of Treasury and Capital Markets at Bank Muamalat Malaysia responsible for the first Islamic Profit Rate Swap and Islamic Cross Currency Swap transactions. He was also in charge of the Bank’s Labuan offshore branch, during the conversion of Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority (LOFSA) to MIFC status.

Helmi also served with Standard Chartered Bank and Commerce International Merchant Bankers (CIMB).

Helmi holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Manchester, UK.

Over 16 years risk management, audit, compliance and policy formulation experience. Currently, he is working as the Head of Risk Management in Bahraini Saudi Bank, Bahrain.

He has also worked as Senior Manager Risk Governance, IT and Basel II in Al Rajhi Bank Saudi Arabia, Head of Risk Management in Atlas Bank Pakistan, Assistant Director Risk in State Bank of Pakistan (central bank of Pakistan) and Senior Credit Analyst in Bank of America Pakistan.

He also attended a two years attachment program with World Bank Japan especially designed for mid career central bankers.

He holds a Master of Economics in Banking and Finance from Yokohama National University Japan and an M.Sc. Economics from International Islamic University Pakistan.

 He also attended a number of international conferences, seminars, trainings from well known international organizations, for example, World Bank, IMF, Asian Development Bank, United Nations and Swiss National Bank.

Mr. Hussam Saif joined Khaleeji Commercial Bank (KHCB) in March 2007 and has extensive experience in treasury and Islamic banking spanning approximately 20 years. 
Prior to joining KHCB, he was with Arab Banking Corporation in the Treasury and Marketable Securities Department.

He is responsible for the liquidity management, Foreign Exchange, Sukuk, Islamic Funds and hedging structures.
